The book of Job

"He is not a man like me that I might answer to him,
that we might confront each other in court.
If only there were someone to arbitrate between us,
to lay his hand upon us both,
someone to remove God's rod from me,
so that his terror would frighten me no more."
                                                             Job 9:32-34

That man, that someone Job is hoping for is our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jesus is our mediator, God is more then just in his punishment. I'm sure everyone knows the story of Job; righteous man praised God, rich not only in heaven but on earth. Then everything is taken from him, seemingly out of nowhere. The bible says Satan tells God, 'Job will curse you to your face if you take everything from him'
So God gives Satan the power to do so.

Now I know that seems cruel..right? I mean why would God let Satan take everything from Job? what did Job do to deserve it? God knows all and sees all correct? God knew Job wasn't going to curse him, he knew exactly what Satan was going to do, and he knew what the outcome was going to be. He also knew Job was a strong enough person to be able to handle all that Satan could throw at him. God gives us only what we can handle, what we can get through, even if it doesn't seem like it at first. Lets not roll passed a key point here either. The book of Job is about so many things, more then just some guy named Job who didn't curse God. One example of that is Satan himself, and his power. The fact is he doesn't have any power against us, he can not harm us, unless God allows him to. Sure he can tempt us, but we have a choice to give in to that temptation or not.

The book of Job obviously is also about faith and trust. We should put our full trust in God, and know that everything happens for a reason, even if our little self absorbed brains can't understand that reason. I'm sure we have all been where Job was "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING GOD?! WHY?!" this is where that good old saying comes into play "Bad things happen to good people". We try so hard to control every aspect of our lives that when one thing doesn't go right we freak. A good example of that would be our economy right now, something we are all freaking out about, and the fact is we need to take a lesson from the book of Job...

When things are not going right, when you are at the breaking point, and life itself just seems pointless and meaningless. Instead of falling further in our depression and cursing God....we need to take a step back, take a breather, and say
"let your will be done God, I know everything happens for a reason, and you have a plan. I pray for your love, wisdom, and guidance to get me through this"

Wow that makes so much sense!
it takes so much pressure off when I let God be God, Even when bad things happen there is a reason I don't have to understand.
